Ohio State.
Thirty-one of the ninety-nine of you that were kind enough to vote in the first poll here selected the Buckeyes to capture the Big Ten. Minnesota followed closely behind with 28 votes. Illinois, the current leader, came in third with 24 votes.
Indiana finished a distant fourth with only nine votes. Seven of you are either wonderfully optimistic or blindly loyal and chose the "other" option.
My thanks for participating in the poll. Expect another soon.

Where is Jordan Steranka in your Freshman of the Year poll? He has the highest batting average among BIg Ten freshmen and all third basemen. I know they haven't been playing well as of late but your coverage of the Nittany Lions has been entirely lax this year.
BB, you are absolutely right about Steranka. He's having a very good freshman campaign and certainly merited inclusion. It was a mistake to overlook him and I've pulled the poll as a result.
As for my PSU coverage, or lack thereof, you are probably correct on that one, too.
I could offer up a laundry basket full of reasons and excuses, but I doubt you'd find any of them satisfactory.
In the end, however, there's no denying that there's a direct connection between how well a team is performing and how much space they get here.
I'm sorry you feel I've overlooked PSU in 2009. All I can do is assure you that it was not an intentional effort.
I am curious, though. What kind of coverage where you hoping for? More Nittany Lions on the All-Weekend Team? Interviews? More detailed game recaps?
I have a vote for the worst mid-week team...
That winner is Ohio State as well.
I second that vote. I wounder if the team even got on the bus.
All-Weekend Teams.
Penn State is 5-13 in the conference though, so I think you have to give credit where credit is due and I can't imagine that a lot of credit is due to the 8th place team in the Big Ten. Especially considered in relation to teams like Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio State, Indiana, and even Michigan State now. Macy hasn't been as good as I thought he would be (4.35 ERA) and only 2 Nittany Lions have batting averages over .310. Lynd and Steranka are both good though and Steranka should get major consideration for Big Ten Freshman of the Year. I don't think he has much of a chance though because Dickerson and Argo have the power numbers that are always appealing to the voters and Pettersen has a very good OB%...and all 3 play on much better teams than Penn St.
