This Week's Schedule

The Big Ten has some interesting midweek games. Here's a brief rundown of what's in store over the next couple of days.

Indiana: @ Louisville, Valpo
Illinois: Bradley
Iowa: Two versus Kansas
Michigan: Akron (canceled), Central Michigan
Michigan State: @ Western Michigan
Minnesota: Two @ Missouri
Northwestern: Elmhurst, Northern Illinois
Ohio State: Morehead State
Penn State: Pittsburgh (canceled), Bucknell
Purdue: Ball State, Illinois State

Certainly, there are some opportunities to improve both RPI rankings and national perception (IU @ Louisville, Iowa @ KU and Minnesota's two @ Mizzou) over the next few days. When conference action returns this weekend, we've got:

Iowa @ Indiana
Illinois @ Michigan
Michigan State @ Ohio State
Northwestern @ Minnesota
Purdue @ Penn State

Hi Big-10ers,

Kansas is actually visiting Iowa this week. Penn State and Northwestern have come to Lawrence recently so I guess KU is returning the favor.

In game one Kansas escaped with a 5-4 win. The Jayhawks 19 baserunners (16 singles, a walk and two hit batters) but only got five across the plate. KU broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth when they scored two runs. Iowa responded in the bottom of the 9th. With the score 5-4 and runners at the corners KU reliever Colton Murray struck out Iowa first baseman Phil Keppler after a long battle.

The two teams play again tomorrow at 4PM. Apparently only about a hundred fans showed up for the game. Is it that cold in Iowa?

I'll leave a link below to my recap of the Tuesday 5-4 Kansas win over Iowa. If anyone is going to the game on Wednesday I would be glad if they found time to post thier impressions of the Kansas team here later. It is always good to get an outside point of view.

Illini over Bradley 11-9.
