NU Goes Hitless, Wine Loses PSU Opener

Arkansas State's Taylor Fowler pitched a no-hitter in a 4-0 triumph over Northwestern. Folwer struck out nine and walked four en route to his no-hitter. Wildcats righthander George Kontos pitched seven and two-thirds, fanning four and allowing two runs, but could not overcome Fowler's brilliance Saturday afternoon. BTH congratulates Fowler on his outstanding performance. (Click here for the box score.)

Northwestern closes the UTA Invitational Sunday afternoon against Kansas State.

Penn State also lost today. The Nittany Lions were beaten by Charlotte, 6-3. PSU thirdbaseman Colin Runt drove in two of the Lions three runs. The game marked the first game of Coach Robbie Wine's Penn State career. PSU and Charlotte face-off again Sunday afternoon. (Click here for the box score to today's game.)
