Minnesota beat St. Thomas, 9-2, yesterday.  Matt Nohelty, Dan Lyons and Derek McCallum each had a two hits for the Gophers.  Sophomore CF Nohelty also swiped a pair of bases.  Starter Allen Bechstein lasted three innings -- not yielding a run or hit -- and picked up the win.  The Golden Gophers improve to 6-2.
Unfortunately, Michigan State's (3-4) midweek performance came up a bit short.  The Spartans lost to Stetson, 13-7.  MSU freshman RF Eli Boike, who continues to emerge as one of the conference's top newcomers, had a 4 for 5 game.  Boike also scored twice and drove in two more Spartan scores.  1B Evan Friedland had a three hit game.
The Spartans are currently trailing South Florida, 12-5.  It's the seventh inning.  I doubt I'll have a link to the game recap this evening, so look for it tomorrow.  I can tell MSU fans that Justin Potes and Dennis Jones each have two RBI.  E.J. Daws has three hits.
